Benefits of “Intelligence”

Even though everyone seems to value Intelligence, it isn’t always clear in what way “intelligence” is practically beneficial. Here’s the beginning of a list of benefits, of any of the kinds of intelligence, for practical life in the world.

And by the way, “intelligence” here is not considered to be the same as: talent, genius, learnedness, educatedness, knowledgeableness, wisdom.

1. Things get done faster, more easily, with less effort, less waste, fewer hassles, fewer mistakes, fewer deadends, more-effective trial and error, fewer corrections.

2. Things get done to a higher standard of whatever the relevant kind of“excellence” is. Things get done “elegantly.”

3. Resulting products, systems, etc. created with more intelligence are more robust and resilient to disrupting and degrading factors; they last longer and work better longer. This is because more relevant factors were taken into account in the process of creating them: related super-systems, internal systemic effects, and sub-systems, and related patterns, were all aligned and optimized.

4. Whatever is done with intelligence, is more likely to serve as a template, a prototype, a seed, a cross-fertilization, a cross-training, to enrich future activities, and this is partly because intelligence tends to work this way on both the creation phase and the “use” phase of anything.

5. Because of all that, the people involved are happier and the people affected are happier; some even get inspired. This is true of anything done with greater intelligence.

6. Those involved in doing things more intelligently feel the intrinsic, inherent joy natural to doing something well and easily. Intelligence “is its own reward.”

7. Because the higher-orders of learning (look for more about this to be posted soon) are brought to bear and are taking place in the process, there is bootstrapping/positive-feedback looping/exponential increase in excellence in all phases of whatever is done with greater intelligence.
